Location: Lake Del Valle Regional Park, Del Valle Road, just a few miles south of Interstate 580 in Livermore

Nearby but feels a world away, Lake Del Valle Recreation Area has hiking trails, bike trails, boating/kayaking, and nice dog-walking trails right from our campsites. We have identified a loop with BOTH hookups and dry camping spots, plus cottages, circling a lovely gathering place for our BWT (big white tent). Three nights: in on Monday, out on Thursday so you avoid weekend traffic.
Here’s the park brochure. And here’s the campground map.
Hosts: Jess Wells, et.al.
Sites: 35-80 feet, depending on site. No generators llowed.
Price: Dry camping: $35. Hookup camping: $50. Cabins (sleeps 5) $100. No pet fee.
Discount: $5 off/night April-October for Regional Park Foundation Members.
Payment method: This is a book-your-own event, with reservations available approximately July 20th, 2026 (twelve weeks before).
We’re shooting for Loop A sites 1-9 (hookups), 10 – 14, 57-60, 62 and 64 (dry sites). These make a loop where we’ll put the FreeWheelers Big White Tent. When you have your spot, register for “Day Use” to pay the $2 hosting fee and get the agenda and site list.
Campsites at public campgrounds may fill up fast, so if you would like to join us on this outing be ready to make your reservation on july 20, 2026, or earlier if you intend to arrive earlier than October 12th.

The Park: The centerpiece of the park is a lake five miles long with a variety of water-oriented recreation, from swimming to windsurfing and boating, surrounded by 4,395 acres of beautiful land for hiking, horseback riding, and nature study. Del Valle also is the eastern gateway to the Ohlone Wilderness Trail, 28 miles of scenic back-country trail.
Del Valle offers two swimming beaches, with lifeguards on duty during posted periods. Visitors to Del Valle may rent motorboats, patio boats, peddle boats, canoes, and kayaks at the marina, and any size boat may be launched at the public boat ramp.
No Unprocessed Firewood is allowed to be brought into the park. Commercially purchased and certified uncontaminated wood is allowed. Otherwise purchase firewood within the park. This is to prevent the spread of Sudden Oak Death fungus.
