- Fabulous Location! Join us this July for exploring one of the most beautiful areas of the state! This year we’ll be going to Lady Bird Johnson Grove on Friday for a walk through this gorgeous redwood grove.
- We’ll also be doing our annual trek to Fern Canyon, stopping by the Big Tree Wayside on our way back to admire a truly GIANT redwood.
- Jean Stumpf will be leading Sit and Slow Stitch several times throughout the weekend, for us to enjoy being creative in this peaceful setting. See below for more info about this fun activity.
- Looking for something both meditative AND active? Join Kim and Jean on Sunday morning for a kayak paddle on Big Lagoon. Bring your own or rent one onsite.
There is also plenty of time to explore on your own! This is one of the most beautiful parts of California (and the country), and many adventures and spectacular settings await you. Check out some of the spectacular beaches in the surrounding area. Explore the nearby towns of Trinidad perched on the hills, and Eureka…great food and quaint shops abound. And less we forget, right outside your RV door are many trails, a pond and a large herd of Roosevelt Elk! Wildlife watching in your PJs if you wish.
“Sit and Slow Stitch” at the RVW Elk Country Camping Weekend
If you love hand sewing, threads, textiles, and crafts, OR you are curious, OR you are looking for inspiration, OR you just want something to do, come join Jean Stumpf in a RVW sewing circle. We will be focusing on the meditative aspects of sewing and not the the precise craft details.
Jean will provide fabrics, threads, needles, embellishments, and tools along with simple project ideas you can work on. Please bring any sewing knowledge you have, a willingness to share what you know, along with your favorite tools – like scissors, thimbles, needles, embroidery hoops, and anything special you might like to use to embellish your stitching. (Think charms, buttons, shells, marathon ribbons…..etc)
We will meet on Friday and Saturday afternoons and, if there is interest, on Sunday for a “Show and Tell.” You will have time to hike or kayak in the mornings before we meet. The exact times and place for our sewing gatherings will be posted on the info board at camp.
For more information about what we will be doing, check out this web site:
