56 women, including 11 guests, enjoyed a fabulous weekend with wonderful weather on the Sonoma County Coast at the Bodega Bay RV Park. The park owners were very accommodating and easy to work with. So much so, we have booked for next year (7/9-7/13).
The weekend started with our usual “Meet & Greet” followed by a fun “speed-dating” exercise in which we got to know people we didn’t know before. Everyone seemed to enjoy this activity!
Saturday morning after breakfast, we had a rig-warming for Susie Q and Marie’s new Class A Winnebago Vista LX which is beautiful.
Saturday afternoon, a dozen of us gathered at N Salmon Creek Beach where we learned how to fly kites, from the kite team from Second Wind Kite Store. Thanks to the generosity of Elaine, the store’s owner, we were treated to packets of Jelly Belly candy, brochures and maps from the local area, and even a 10-15% discount at the store.
Eating clam chowder, visiting the scenery used in Alfred Hitchcock’s movie The Birds, admiring the Children’s Bell Tower from Italy in honor of Nicholas Green whose organs helped save many and brought light to the importance of organ donation, exploring the local areas, and enjoying the Farmer’s Market were all part of the weekend’s activities.
Joan Beason won the best decorated RV and went home as a happy camper with a new corn-hole game.
Saturday night we were entertained by and sang along with the FreeWheelers Strummers. There was a lot of enthusiastic hand-clapping and foot stomping, even some dancing. These musicians get better and better each time we hear them. Thank-you ladies!
On Sunday, 13 folks enjoyed the fabulous cuisine at Terrapin Creek, the first Michelin-rated restaurant in Sonoma County.
Thanks to all the volunteers for helping with set-up and clean-up. It truly takes a village!
