2019 Past Events

January 3-7, 2019
Location:  Vineyard RV Park  4985 Midway Rd, Vacaville, CA 95688
Freewheelers gathered the first weekend in January at the Vineyard in Vacaville. We had 12 rigs and 1 member rented a Yurt.
Friday night we held the traditional potluck in the beautiful clubhouse by the fire and played a little Pictionary. We have some artists among the group. There were lots of laughs and a few lucky winners.
After breakfast Saturday, some played games and caught up with old friends and made  new ones. In the afternoon while sipping hot apple cider a few of us learned how to play Texas Holdem and others played various games.
Saturday after our Potluck dinner we played the Newlywed game. Three couples kindly volunteered and we laughed until our sides hurt. We ended the evening playing more games, snacking and laughing.
Sunday we said goodbye to some while others stayed and talked, laughed, played games and snacked.

56 women, including 11 guests, enjoyed a fabulous weekend with wonderful weather on the Sonoma County Coast at the Bodega Bay RV Park.  The park owners were very accommodating and easy to work with.  So much so, we have booked for next year (7/9-7/13).

The weekend started with our usual “Meet & Greet” followed by a fun “speed-dating” exercise in which we got to know people we didn’t know before.  Everyone seemed to enjoy this activity!

Saturday morning after breakfast, we had a rig-warming for Susie Q and Marie’s new Class A Winnebago Vista LX which is beautiful.

Saturday afternoon, a dozen of us gathered at N Salmon Creek Beach where we learned how to fly kites, from the kite team from Second Wind Kite Store.  Thanks to the generosity of Elaine, the store’s owner, we were treated to packets of Jelly Belly candy, brochures and maps from the local area, and even a 10-15% discount at the store.

Eating clam chowder, visiting the scenery used in Alfred Hitchcock’s movie The Birds, admiring the Children’s Bell Tower from Italy in honor of Nicholas Green whose organs helped save many and brought light to the importance of organ donation, exploring the local areas, and enjoying the Farmer’s Market were all part of the weekend’s activities.

Joan Beason won the best decorated RV and went home as a happy camper with a new corn-hole game.

Saturday night we were entertained by and sang along with the FreeWheelers Strummers.  There was a lot of enthusiastic hand-clapping and foot stomping, even some dancing.  These musicians get better and better each time we hear them.  Thank-you ladies!

On Sunday, 13 folks enjoyed the fabulous cuisine at Terrapin Creek, the first Michelin-rated restaurant in Sonoma County.

Thanks to all the volunteers for helping with set-up and clean-up.  It truly takes a village!
